I have been away from camping for decades. The options today are nearly endless. I did a test camp using a tent/sleeping bag. My old bones were not happy with the ground. I bought an inexpensive gathered end double hammock. Better but no cigar; finding the right angle to lay and the walls created by the fabric were not ideal. I gave the Dutchwear Banyan a try. It's not as comfy as my home bed but it wins the day for comfort and ease of set up.
Regarding setup: THANK YOU Dutch for having a video available for each of your various products; trying to figure out how to use some of your very clever hardware without them would be difficult. As it is those various bits of aluminum are just amazing and make the whole tie-out and setup process stoopid fast and easy. Love 'em.
We have a cold snap coming in a few days so I'll have a chance to try various tarp setups and the quilts to see how well they handle 30 F weather. Can't wait.
Good stuff, well made, with great product support.
As always great quality and works great. I had just been using an s-biner with zing it to secure the doors to a stake. These work much better. Dutchware is the only hammock and gear supplier I use anymore. Always ships quick, great quality and innovative design!!!
I absolutely love this company. Very helpful with putting the right gear together. I love switching up my styles and hanging methods with Dutchware. Today is my birthday and I've held onto my boxed up Chameleon Cloud 71 for today's special occasion. I am soooo excited!! Ps, this is my second Chameleon Cloud 71. An absolute must have!
Dutchware Gear is the best cottage hammock company on the market. From their amazing innovations in gear, to their custom work, quality, communication, fast turn around, etc., they are simply the best. You will not be disappointed.
This is the most comfortable hammock I’ve ever slept in. I have war bonnet, blackbird, and a Dream hammock sparrow. I’m so glad I found this one and the quality is top-notch. I would recommend this for anybody.
12'/Wide Chameleon/Asym Bug Net. I'm 6'0"/225 lbs. +95% Right Side/-5% Back Sleeper.
Asym Bug Net is Head Right/Feet Left in photos. Took it out and slept in it. Very happy with this gathered end hammock. Surprised I could stretch out so well. It "is" all about the diagonal. It really does feel flat with a midsize Thermarest pillow under my knees while on my back. It really does feel flat while on my side. Calf ridge is eliminated by sleeping on your preferred side on the diagonal but facing in not out. Facing out on the diagonal on your preferred side is totally doable as in the photos with barely a hint of pressure from the center on your knees. Preferred side for fetal sleeping is also on the diagonal facing in. That gives zero pressure on your knees. On your side the midsize pillow gives your arms the perfect placement. Your head needs the smallest Thermarest or just a tiny portion of the midsize for maximum comfort. On your back the small pillow is excellent but literally not needed. I used my Puffy Coat as a pillow for my head instead and was totally comfortable. The next day I lounged in it for hours and napped a little as well. One of the world's nicest portable recliners, period full stop. I have very nice hammocks. If you said you had a superior gathered end hammock than this one for sleeping I'd say you'd have to prove it. The reputation for quality of manufacture speaks for itself. A very nice hammock. Very happy with it.
Just wanted to share review about how great Dutchware is. A few months ago I purchased the Banyan bridge hammock with the spider, poly straps and beetle buckles.
Two weeks ago, went to red river gorge and had a great weekend. I have tried a traditional double hammock, and could not get comfortable and I tried using it multiple times. Another problem is when you’re camping in the summer. It’s hard to keep cool, especially with the mosquito net on it. Then I was given a gift of the haven tent regular size. It is a cool idea, but one it’s extremely heavy and I felt that it was very narrow. The other problem is with the air mattress. It makes tons of noise when you roll around and even though it’s inflated all the way still seems to cave in a little bit around your shoulders. I sold it and purchased the Banyan bridge hammock. I can’t say enough how much I love it! The first night I slept good. The second night even better. The angle I set it up with the first night was greater than 20° once I corrected it, I was in the perfect position. It is lightweight and I’ve got plenty of room for my shoulders. I’ve never been happier with my sleeping, set up. Again, the weight in my opinion is not an issue, and to me it’s the lightest thing I’ve carried. The suspension system is great with a beetle buckle which connects directly to the hammock. I also purchased the Ridgeline storage which is well worth it. Easy to stick things right above your head. It’s easily accessible. I ordered the xenon trap 11 foot that is set up to use with a Bridge hammock. It wasn’t in in time for our trip and I purchased a cheap tarp which broke and leaked. Can’t wait to try the new tarp. I am about 6 feet tall 170 pounds for reference.
I needed some hardware and then found some other items that I wanted too, like a small flashlight, and these allowed me to get free shipping. I finished my order getting items that I would have paid a lot more for from other places like Amazon or major camping supply stores. The shipping was fast and the flashlight was better than what I had previously bought from Amazon for three times the price that I paid at Dutchware.
